Let’s learn from the experiences told in PhotoStory. For anyone who has had to suffer from a mental health challenge, you will see that there is hope to recovery, and that there is life beyond the illness. That you will be inspired to play an active role in mental health, helping others and yourself. We hope you will hear the peers’ voices at this exhibition and that the needle will be pushed. Hence, mental health is still relevant to you. You can have poor mental health but not necessarily be diagnosed with a mental illness. The pandemic and its related challenges have brought to fore the relevance of mental health to all of us and that we all experience mental health challenges, but to varying degrees. This first of its kind photo exhibition tells first-hand stories of mental health challenges and recovery, advocating on mental health to the larger community and as a stand against stigma. PhotoStory aims to shift perceptions and change mindsets towards mental health. Our peers, ordinary persons from Singapore’s community, have bravely stepped up to tell their stories of recovery and resilience, in the context of mental health challenges. PhotoStory celebrates resilience and the positive strength of the human spirit in adversity. It is with great pride that we bring to you, PhotoStory: From Darkness to Light.
